My new obsession, Across the Universe, uses Beatles songs to tell the story of the plot. Now some may say you shouldn't mess with the original classics, but some of them are really good.
This is just sound:
"I Want to Hold Your Hand"
"All My Lovin"
"It Won't Be Long"

Looking Back... 1995
I love this show (I Love the 90's), and am trying to find some of my favorite segments on youtube. I tend to find that they believe almost the exact same things I did - or do now - about the things they criticize.
This is their segement on Party of Five, something else I was seriously into back in high school. I didn't notice then just how depressing the show was!

Christmas Quiz of the Day!
Just thought I'd mention that it snowed last night - and is still snowing a little bit! Unfortunately, work won't be cancelled... Oh, well! It's still a sure sign of winter - and Christmas! Maybe - just maybe - we'll have a white Christmas this year.
I just have to add that clearly that's not true... if this blog isn't going overboard for Christmas than I don't know what is! Though I do tend to like minimal when it comes to decorations - I don't like the house looking tacky!

Scenes from Wicked
Who knew you could get scenes from Wicked on youtube??? Well, I suppose you can find anything there... Anyway, here's some non-Christmas related news, just cause I like Wicked and want to post the scenes I like!
These were the ones I could find. I still want to see if I can get "For Good," "What Is This Feeling?, and "As Long as You're Mine."
The Wizard and I:
Popular (I could totally rock this song if given the chance!):

Well, this is just NOT consistent...
I took this test to see what Sesame Street character I was cause it was on a different site than the other one, and this one had VERY different results. Now I'm the Count! I think that sounds much more like me!
By the way, I enjoy that his full name is Count Von Count. Never knew that before.
I'll keep you posted on other family member results. On the last test, Emily got Big Bird, Lindsay got Cookie Monster and Joe shared my results of Bert (we've begun trading paper clips and bottle caps recently).

If Only...
You would have had to have been living under a rock ten years ago if you didn't know that Kelly, Lindsay and Joe (and Katherine, by osmosis) had an obsession with the Mighty Ducks (the movies, NOT the actual hockey team). Of course, as any fan knows, there are three movies in the franchise: The Mighty Ducks, D2: The Mighty Ducks and D3: The Mighty Ducks.
Fairly recently, me, Pam, Joe, Lindsay and her friend Audrey all went to Roosevelt Field to do some shopping and we're all sitting in the car - Joe in the front, Pam driving, me, Lin and Audrey in the back (Audrey was in the middle I believe). Anyway, at one point Audrey made a comment along the lines of, "I don't know, I think it was D4 or something."
Me, Joe and LIndsay all immediately turned to her and said, "WHAT?!" in unison, so shocked that there might be a D4 that we had never heard of ourselves. As it turned out, it was just a misunderstanding, but it was pretty funny.
Recently, we found this though! (Just think... maybe one day there will be a D4.)

Just for Fun: Today in History
This isn't family news at all, but just a fun look back on today's date in history. This comes from MSNBC.
In 1842, the United States and Canada resolved a border dispute by signing the Webster-Ashburton Treaty.
In 1848, the Free-Soil Party convened in Buffalo, N.Y., where it nominated Martin Van Buren for president.
In 1854, Henry David Thoreau published “Walden,” which described his experiences while living near Walden Pond in Massachusetts.
In 1902, Edward VII was crowned king of England following the death of his mother, Queen Victoria.
In 1930, a forerunner of the cartoon character Betty Boop made her debut in Max Fleischer’s animated short “Dizzy Dishes.”
In 1936, Jesse Owens won his fourth gold medal at the Berlin Olympics as the United States took first place in the 400-meter relay.
In 1965, Singapore proclaimed its independence from the Malaysian Federation.
In 1969, actress Sharon Tate and four other people were found brutally murdered in Tate’s Los Angeles home; cult leader Charles Manson and a group of his disciples were later convicted of the crime.
In 1974, President Nixon’s resignation took effect. Vice President Gerald R. Ford became the nation’s 38th chief executive.
In 1995, Jerry Garcia, lead singer of the Grateful Dead, died in San Francisco of a heart attack at age 53.
Ten years ago: Bob Dole telephoned Jack Kemp to ask him to be his running mate; Kemp accepted. A weary-looking Boris Yeltsin was sworn into his second term as president of Russia.
Five years ago: A suicide bomber detonated his explosives in a central Jerusalem pizzeria, killing himself and 15 other people. President Bush approved federal funding only for existing lines of embryonic stem cells.
One year ago: The space shuttle Discovery and its crew of seven safely returned to Earth, ending a 14-day safety test that was shadowed by the Columbia tragedy. Charles McCoy Jr. pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and 10 other charges in a series of Ohio highway shootings and was sentenced to 27 years in prison. Author Judith Rossner, who wrote “Looking for Mr. Goodbar,” died in New York City at age 70.
